Matt, from my point of view this code is not only broken but not clear at all when taking a look into it. If we don't clearify code that is a bit strange, we will have problems, now or later. I know I shouldn't rewrite all that I see is broken, and I haven't done so, since I've commited patches to kopete that were bugfixes (yes, smaller, but bugfixes).
From my point of view, this code should be rewritten.
Please tell me if you don't agree with me and I stop my work with this code.
