I can confirm that the trick with "non-online" status works. While kopete was
claiming it is "connecting", I changed the status to "away" and the contact
list instantly appeared. Next, after changing the status to "online",
everything was ok.
I'm using kopete 0.12.3, KDE 3.5.5 FC5
