I totally agree that standardized widgets and consistent interfaces across the entire desktop are the way to go. I always get a feeling of sheer horror when I see a screenshot of one of those totally skinned Windows applications, such as most overclocking tools, instant messengers and media players. However, there is a single exception that always makes me wonder whether a small amount of very well planned customization might not be a good way to go for some apps - amarok. The beauty and intuitiveness of its user interface are simply amazing. I know that many hardcore GNOME users and KDE haters are impressed by that one application. Amarok uses a very clever combination of standard widgets, subtle specialized controls and HTML to create a really pleasant user experience. All the while, it fits in with the KDE desktop perfectly well and never sticks out as an alien application. If Kopete could achieve that level of UI sophistication, I am sure some GAIM users would start admitting that Kopete in fact is the better instant messenger :). - Bartosz _______________________________________________ kopete-devel mailing list [email protected] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kopete-devel
