I recently found a similiar bugreport in the debian bugtrackung system:

but the hint in the report does is also a possible workaround for kopete. So I
changed my settings in kopete from "save until kopete gets terminated" to "save
for 15 minutes" and yeah, it works. If you set the time to a higher value it
will have nearly the same effect and will work until the bug gets fixed.
