this should be implemented in kstreamsocket in kdelibs/kdecore/network the
knetwork classes so that all kde applications can benefit from it. thiago has
already noted the plugin implementation of ktorrent (see
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108930) and stated that it is part of his
todo list
