If I remember correctly, this is simply because the jabber resource is
automatically changed by the gtalk client each time it logs in. You can be
logged in from multiple places with the same account but different resources.
Thus, the resource determines where your message is actually delivered. So,
Kopete cannot just merge gtalk contacts with different resources, since they
are actually different and, most important, have to be addressed differently.
