Would it be possible to change all crypto plugins (OTR and GPG) to pass the messages as plaintext to History, but change the History plugin to store them encrypted with GPG?
It would probably take some re-architecting of the plugins to get the common GPG code into one place, but that way all History output would be encrypted with the users GPG key and would be kept "safe". Of course, this would break the "deniability" feature of OTR and pretty much defeat the purpose. One other thing I thought I would point out is in the TOOLKIT section of http://www.cypherpunks.ca/otr/README-libotr-3.0.0.txt "This toolkit is useful for analyzing and/or forging OTR messages. Why do we offer this? Primarily, to make absolutely sure that transcripts of OTR conversations are really easy to forge after the fact." Doesn't this imply that you could keep a log of your conversation and still be able to decode it? They wouldnt be secure anymore, but it sounds like OTR's focus is ensuring safe communication during not after. I could be misunderstanding this though. For this reason I'm still thinking about how to solve this ;) > _______________________________________________ > kopete-devel mailing list > [email protected] > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kopete-devel
