I have a similar problem:
I chose to rearrange my contacts in Kopete, and created several groups (e.g.
university, friends, ..). After that I moved contacts to one of the new groups.
This somehow didn't work for Jabber contacts. My ICQ and MSN contacts will stay
in that group - the jabber contacts are in "(Unknown Group)" after i restarted
kopete.
