SVN trunk now uses gpg-agent and no native passphrase handling, coincidentally
solving this bug. With pinentry on the screen, the Kopete thread is totally
blocked (not just in an event loop, like before), so incoming packets are held
queued by the kernel. This means that when pinentry goes away, Kopete resumes
execution as if nothing had happened, and the incoming messages are handled
perfectly.
