Summary: MSN filetransfer stops with almost every file, in a
given file, always at the same percentage
           Product: kopete
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: MSN Plugin
        AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: cserby gmail com

Version: 0.12.4 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty)
4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14.1)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.20-16-generic

My friend tried to send me a JPEG picture over MSN
(http://www.mcl.hu/~cserby/testImage_full.jpg).
The transfer seemingly stuck at 50% on my side, but she received a message in
her Windows MSN Client, that I cancelled the transfer.
The file transfer dialog didn't disappear on my computer after a long time, I
had to press Cancel.
On my computer, a broken file could be found
(http://www.mcl.hu/~cserby/testImage_broken.jpg).
We retried the transfer several times, it always stuck at 50%. I thought, that
maybe the last few bytes of the corrupt file cause the problem, but
transmitting a file consisting only the last few bytes of the corrupt file, and
some of the next bytes completed just fine...
I captured the communication as well
(http://www.mcl.hu/~cserby/kopeteMSNfiletransfer.cap - WireShark capture).
(It's funny though, that at the point, where the transmission stuck - packet No
738 - I couldn't find any message originating from my computer that could cause
the Windows Client display the "Remote user cancelled the transmission"
message...)
I encounter this bug almost every time someone tries to send me a file over
MSN. This is a persistent bug on my computer, I had several installations of
Ubuntu, tried several versions of Kopete, and the bug is always there.
I'm using my OS with English language installed only, but the character
encoding is set to UTF8.
You can find my kopeterc file at http://www.mcl.hu/~cserby/kopeterc .

Thanks for your help, and thanks for the Kopete software, I really enjoy using
it :)
