I had also started writing a Zeroconf plugin for Kopete - but you
seem to have beaten me to the punch :)
I am on holidays at the moment but I am keen to help you out as soon
as I get back (around the 20th). (I have a linux box and an iBook
that i was using to test against - I have iChat and Adium on the Mac
and wireshark on the linux box ready to go if someone doesn't beat me
to it).
I also have some experience wrestling with QT designer.
As for the name 'Bonjour' it is a trademark of Apple. (But then again
trademarks are also AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo etc.). The Bonjour
Icon itself can be licensed (and is conditional on the system
conforming to the standard, something AFAIK mDNSResponder and Avahi
do - basically I think it is more intended for printer manufactures
etc). More authoritative details can be gotten from http://
developer.apple.com/networking/bonjour/.
If you want screenshots of the iChat or Adium preferences just for a
comparative reference or anything else I am happy to help.

The Plugin is pretty usable. It's been tested with Pidgin and it is
possible to send/receive messages, and manage contacts.
Some areas which I'd like some help:
* Other IM Clients:
Someone with access to other IM clients (like iChat, Adium,
etc...), please start a conversation with someone over bonjour,
and send me the wireshark logs (port 5298).
* GUI:
bonjouraccountpreferences.ui looks fugly. I'm spastic at UI
design. This is the config widget. I basically need help with
making this look somewhat decent. See pidgin for what it should
look like :p
* Legalese:
I just realised I'm not sure if the word `Bonjour` and/or the
icon set used in pidgin are trademarked/copyrighted/blah. Anyone
have insight to this?
