I tried to show a middle-aged Windows-using woman GAIM and told her that it is
a good alternative to the MSN client which comes with Windows.
"How do I send winks?", she said.
"You can't," I told her.
"Oh this program is all crap, I want winks".
I agree that flash usage is very bad. But perhaps it would be possible to use
swfdec http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/ for Wink support somehow? I use this to
view flash in gecko-based browsers and it works great. Doesn't work with
Konqueror 3.5.9, though.
I don't know what CAB format is, if it is a proprietary format then that's very
bad. But..
WINK support really IS ESSENTIAL for many users, and many will not even
consider Kopete as a choice until or unless it gets wink support.
