The user names are displayed correctly in 0.12 and 0.50.
If somebody still has wrong characters in user names then this is the other
client bug (e.g. QIP) or an alias for that contact is broken. Aliases can be
changed in User Info dialog in Kopete 0.50.
In Kopete 0.50 the away-message is updated when user has changed encoding.
