I have been in the work situation where the powers that be insisted on
installing some free software that they badly needed on Windows, even
though the package was designed for Linux/FreeBSD, the windows version
was explicitly unsupported, and the windows port was done by a garage
band.

My conclusion: people who make shitty, irrational decisions frequently
get shitty results.
