I'm tired of using minicom. I'd like recommendations on terminal programs I can use within X.
I need to attach to two different serial ports (actually USB<->Serial, or dev/ttyUSBx) to communicate with our satellite devices. I would like something that can capture data, provides a scrolling window (where I look at a history of the session like Hyper Terminal in Winsucks does). Now that I mention Hyper Terminal, something that would also run in Winsucks would be nice (none of us here like HT). Oh, and need I mention I want it free? ;) A couple things I don't like about minicom: No wordwrap - data goes off the edge of the window. Configuration is a PITA. Scrolling is a PITA - more data comes in and the window scrolls back to the bottom (in typical xterm fashion) You have to run it as root (or use sudo).
