I had one of those Isaac Newton moments as I was falling asleep last night.
Or was it Ben Franklin? The guy who would try to fall asleep while holding
something in his hand, then when he dropped it and woke up, he'd write down
whatever he was thinking.
Can't speak to Newton or Franklin, but Kekule is one of my favorites
(benzene ring). Check it out:

I remember my physics teacher telling me that story in high school. The
link doesn't say it, but the legend was that he dreamed of a snake (or
was it multiple snakes?) biting their tail and then being rolled down
the street like a hula hoop.
Oh, and so much for my Franklin/Newton/Edison moment. For reasons that
are too opaque for me to comprehend, the pattern ended up only matching
the first instance of an address, and would match on lines that
contained bad addresses after the first one. Hmm... probably a
misplaced set of parentheses. (That narrows it down, huh?)

Hmm, perhaps this is why Edison said that genius is 1% inspiration and
99% perspiration.
