What is the best choice of server email programs?
Sendmail? Postfix? Qmail?
What about for 200 users? 1000? 5000?
I use postfix for a few thousand. I used to use sendmail, but its configuration is too complex to maintain unless you need some special features. The power that sendmail gives you in processing and munging things about the email is almost endless, but postfix gives you mechanisms to do all this with external programs. I use sendmail on a number of servers to forward mail off of them. It is there by default, and it requires only set it and forget configuration options. I have no experience with Qmail.
