I've also posted this message to the httpd list, but was hoping that someone
here would also have some ideas on helping to troubleshoot this problem.

I have a RH ES3 server running Apache/2.0.46 that's intermittently being a
little flaky/slow. SSH and other services consistently respond quickly, and
the HTTPD service usually does as well, but every now and then it gets slow
and pauses for a long time before responding. Since other network services
are responding quickly, I don't think it's a network or hardware related
problem, but I could be wrong (happens all the time).

This happens for simple static HTML pages without any includes, scripting,
etc. Top shows CPU use at 99.4% idle, and doesn't spike during page
requests. I don't think it's a reverse DNS resolution issue, I've checked
the config in every place I can think of. I have this same (I think) setup
on several other boxes without any problems.

Anyone have any useful ideas on how I can attack this problem from a
troubleshooting perspective? I've just about exhausted my Linux
administration knowledge (and that ain't sayin much).

Ideas?
