At the Thursday meeting, Andrew P. Lentvorski, Jr asked if anyone knew about network testing tools. I sort of remembered something I saw before and finally found it using freshmeat.
http://iet.sourceforge.net/ >From the website: Features: * no need to reconfigure equipment, just insert a PC with two NICs "on the cable" * works on the ethernet level with a bridge * network error conditions: o packet loss o delay o in transmission errors (IP, UDP layer) o bandwidth restraints * kernel driver for low-CPU overhead packet processing * control application for configuring driver engine o GUI o CLI * saving configuration to a text file This looks like it should work fine with VMware so Andrew should be able to get rid of all that excess hardware he's currently using. I'll download and test it to be sure and give a report a bit later. Gus -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
