LVM has nothing to do with the filesystems. It only handles the block
device you make the filesystem in. If you increase your logical volume
you then have to go and use a filesystem-specific tool to increase the
size of the file system as a separate step that LVM knows nothing about.
Same for decrease, make a new fs, etc.

No idea. I am still wondering what will become of EVMS. A competing
logical volume implementation.
