NEW YORK (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. has been in talks that could
lead to a decision soon to use Intel Corp. chips in its Macintosh
computer line, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Intel makes a lot more than x86 chips. They have some very solid ethernet chips, and all sorts of controllers for various pieces of hardware. Apple was talking to them about those chips, not the main processor.
