Yes, on an HP-UX box that was due to be replaced, we ran out of inodes when a program went crazy creating 0-byte files in /tmp. Ran / tmp clean out of inodes, even though there was plenty of actual disk space left over. Scripting error. :)

That was a 512MB /tmp (huge back then) created with 4KB blocks per inode, IIRC.
