Quoting Mike Marion <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

There's always been a delay in seeing changes to files from different hosts to
a path in NFS. i.e. if I write to a file in NFS from host A, it'll sometimes

So it turns out it is related to A8 at: http://nfs.sourceforge.net/

Adding the noac option to NFS mounts fixes it.. probably at a slight hit in
performance, but it needs to be done at this point for our users. Probably
helps explain a short (maybe 30 second) delay in the 2.4.22 kernel based
32bit hosts we've had, that users have seen going back a good 2 years or so.

They must've really tweaked these bits in the 2.6 kernel though, since the
problem became massively worse.
