Chris,

You will want to use protocol "C" which means that a write system call
returns once it's completed on both systems.  It ensures transactional
atomicity.  Also be absolutely sure you have same kernel and userlevel
versions or you could seriously hose yourself when a failover happens.

Everything else takes a bit of time to figure out but it's not that 
hard.
