Thanks. I labbed it all out. I can do secure IMAP (IMAPs) to get the mail, but I was just verifying that sending the mail to other users on the same server was also "secure". I configured SMTPs (for confidentiality) and required authentication (so there is no open relay), so I have achieved what I was looking for.

IMAP protocol doesn't offer any way to send email so the client has to use
SMTP.
