OK, so I've been told this is where all the coolest Linux people hang out, and
I've been lurking here for a day now and was encouraged to post a question I
had.

I currently have a "real" web server sitting out in the world, and then have a
more-or-less complete copy sitting on another server here in the office for
testing or backup or whatever. So far it's been pretty easy with mostly just
standard html. Now a database is becoming a requirement. So, from what I've
gathered and been toying with for a few months is MySQL and PHP. The
question is, once I start getting a database out there, what's the best
method for keeping them synchronized? The best I've come up with so far is
SQLyog (http://webyog.com). This *seems* to be basically what I'm looking
for, other than the parts I've actually gotten working involve Windows and
the enterprise edition which requires money. I'd much prefer some open
source version on Linux, *ideally* a Debian package.
Does such a thing exist, or am I just dreaming, or just needing some other
basic knowledge of MySQL/Databases in general as to how to accomplish what
I'm looking for?
I consider myself a "semi-newbie" in terms of Linux/MySQL/PHP. Basically I've
converted everything in my grasp (about 30 computers) to either Debian,
Xandros, SimplyMepis or DSL and have been learning/using them for around 6
months. MySQL and PHP I've learned just about the absolute minimum to get a
few things accomplished and have a lot less experience with.

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks!
Levi (:
