I tried all that. Didn't have any affect. I even removed the RPM
association altogether. Which is when I discovered there is no way to
add a new association. Nevertheless, even with no RPM association
whatsoever, Firefox still insists on showing me a Helix player page in
which I am invited to play my Redhat Package Manager file.
This is in the infamously buggy Firefox 1.0.4. I don't like upgrading
Mozilla-related apps independently of the distribution. Too likely to
lose my data, and too much trouble to restore it. So, I just put up
with these little idiocies.
I'm still running rh9 (which came with Mozilla v1.2). Without
disturbing v1.2, I installed v1.7.3, and can run either one I choose.
Each runs fine. I don't know if the same can be done with FF.
