No mail was going through, for about 12 hours. netstat/lsof didn't indicate any established connections, and I'm using reiserfs -- there is no inode issues. I was able to queue mail with telnet to port 25. I restarted (with qmailctl), no fix. Then I stopped the smtpd daemon, spent a while looking around and everything looked completely normal, ran tcpok. Started it back up and the queue began unloading -- well the queue started unloading before I knew it was, so I cannot tell exactly what got it going again. 2005-08-26 18:50:52.986359500 alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping... 2005-08-26 18:51:02.997401500 alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping... 2005-08-26 18:51:13.008826500 alert: unable to append to bounce message; HELP! sleeping... 2005-08-26 18:51:23.028028500 status: local 0/10 remote 0/40 exitasap 2005-08-26 18:51:23.028051500 status: exiting 2005-08-26 18:51:25.792528500 status: local 0/10 remote 0/40 2005-08-26 18:51:25.794411500 starting delivery 1: msg 136434 to remote [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2005-08-26 18:51:25.794709500 status: local 0/10 remote 1/40 2005-08-26 18:51:25.795353500 double bounce: discarding bounce/135781 2005-08-26 18:51:25.796458500 end msg 135781 2005-08-26 18:51:25.804064500 new msg 81300 2005-08-26 18:51:25.815455500 info msg 81300: bytes 400 from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> qp 28574 uid 1004 ... got up to 40 remote, several times, and flattened out before 227 messages where processed. ... 2005-08-26 18:54:43.329557500 delivery 124: deferral: Sorry,_I_wasn't_able_to_establish_an_SMTP_connection._(#4.4.1)/ 2005-08-26 18:54:43.329826500 status: local 0/10 remote 1/40 2005-08-26 18:54:55.753713500 delivery 156: deferral: Sorry,_I_wasn't_able_to_establish_an_SMTP_connection._(#4.4.1)/ 2005-08-26 18:54:55.806681500 status: local 0/10 remote 0/40 2005-08-26 18:59:06.962856500 new msg 81300 2005-08-26 18:59:06.963426500 info msg 81300: bytes 1103 from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> qp 29209 uid 1004 2005-08-26 18:59:07.112305500 starting delivery 227: msg 81300 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2005-08-26 18:59:07.112615500 status: local 1/10 remote 0/40 and all is normal. sigh, wish I had copied the queue or got some useful info when it was failing. // George -- George Georgalis, systems architect, administrator <IXOYE>< http://galis.org/ cell:646-331-2027 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [email protected] http://www.kernel-panic.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/kplug-list
