Job Descriptions..... Title: Sr. Embedded S/W Engineer (Positions in San Jose, CA and Irvine, CA) Responsibilities: In this highly visible role, you will: - Architect, design, implement (C, MIPS), and test embedded software modules. - Develop device drivers under various o/s (Linux and VxWorks) - Drive requirements for next generation products. - Interact with customers to help them succeed with Broadcom products. Requirements: - Typically requires at least 5+years experience in embedded systems. Linux kernel driver and/ or VxWorks experience preferred. - Experience with digital video: MPEG-1/2/4, or H.264 is considered a plus, but not required. - Systems integration and debugging. - Experience working with and resolving issues for customers is considered a plus. - MS, or BS Degree ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job Title: Sr. S/W Engineer (Multiple position in Irvine, CA) Responsibilities: Responsibilities for this role include porting, maintenance, upgrade, performance improvement, and size reduction of Linux kernel, network and IDE device drivers, libraries, tool chains, user and kernel level debuggers, EJTAG debuggers, profiling tools for Settop Box, cable and DSL CPE reference platforms. Additional responsibilities include providing Linux OS and tool chain release, profiling tools, debugging tools, documents, training and support to STB, cable and DSL Linux users in Broadcom or to customers. Individual should keep abreast of Linux community open source development status. Requirements: Typically requires at least 4+ years development experience and in-depth knowledge in Linux OS kernel, libraries, drivers (such as WIFI (wireless LAN), IDE, USB or Ethernet), GNU tool chain, kernel and user level debuggers, and system level programming for embedded Linux multi-media or networking devices. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Job Title: Sr. Linux S/W Test Engineer Responsibilities: In this role, you will be responsible for conceiving, designing, and implementation of test applications and procedures for integration testing of reference and customer specific software releases for an integrated system on a Broadcom IC based settop box. In this role, you will be responsible for the following: Setting up LTP based test environment for linux kernel, tool-chain and Rootfs releases. Writing test plans and test procedures, executing test plans and generating test reports. Writing test scripts and programs to automate test procedures, extracting and analyzing the data. Kernel system verification, verification of application level, and kernel level debugger functions, (gdb, kdb, and kgdb). Regression testing for each linux kernel release on all platforms. Requirements: Typically requires at least 5+ years of direct related experience with embedded systems. Settop box experience, or MPEG experience is a plus. Strong embedded linux, and linux kernel knowledge. Experience with C/C++ language required. Experience with scripting tools (writing in Perl, Shell, or C-Shell). Multiple RTOS experience is considered a plus.
