I could do dual head on an Alpha back in 1999 with 2 Matrox PCI cards.
I'm pretty sure that has not changed.
With PCI-X, the performance should be just fine if you need to use two.
How about 3dlabs? A a side benefit, your 3D performance will *rock*.
