If you have a nice firewall script you are comfortable with that only takes a few seconds to add to your rc.local on each PC then what is the problem? Most PCs likely aren't serving anything except 1-2 daemons so it should be easy to do. I'm getting into the habit of running an iptables script on all my PCs. I'd be uncomfortable with any PC that did *not* run a firewall. (Kinda like wearing seatbelts when I drive.)
