Well, I'd probably go with NFSv4 instead of AFS given that it seems to
have what you want and doesn't have things which you don't seem to need.

NFSv4 is probably a little better cooked at this point than AFS. It
also probably has better support on things like NetApps since NetApp is
one of the contributors to the RFC.
