no. by flatly stating that you would not feel like a schmuck, you
showed that his feelings and beliefs did not follow your feelings and
beliefs, and that you were not willing to find a solution that
respected both.

Nor should I. I live by my feelings and beliefs. I cannot live by yours. TO even attempt to do so is ludicrous- the very fact that they are personal b eliefs means its impossible for me to know what you think is right and wrong, short of letting you make every decision in my life. I follow what I think is moral, which by and large tends to be more restrictive than most peoples. I'm quite content with that.

Especially in this case- there really is no room for a comprimise. I think its perfectly fine to do something. He thinks it isn't. One of us will have to bow to the other- there's no room in the middle here.
