Copyright is an artificial institution

Society doesn't see it as artificial.

Which society? I'm not aware of The Society.

In fact, they have declared it inalienable.

Can you give us a quote supporting that?

They've declared it to be part of the creative process.

They? Would that be the They of The Society?

You've got it for as long as you live.

True for the moment. And a bit longer - which, when you think about it, is patently silly.

The creative process as an expression of the individual.

But not exclusively. The individual is an expression of society.

The two are inextricably linked as one is to their facial image.

Modern medical science has pretty much overturned that cart.

The person owns the rights to that image.

Under certain limited conditions.

It is against the law for Joe to take and sell a recognizable
photograph of someone without their permission.

Conditionally true. Your image can't be used without your permission unless, for example, you are a public figure. Or your image appears in a documentary or in news coverage. Or if you are an incarcerated convict. Or if you are in the military (where you have no Constitutional rights). Or if you're dead. Or if you're a suspect of a crime (or A Person of Interest). Or if your parents have given permission (when you were a minor). Those just for starts.
