This may be a moot point at this stage, however..
Knoppix has a "bootfrom=/dev/hdx#/nameof.iso" parameter that you can use at boot
time. As long as you boot from a knoppix cd/dvd that is using the same kernel,
then
you can enter this boot parameter to tell knoppix to switch to an iso image on
your
hard drive.
This is nice for a number of things, but several off the top of my head would
be:
1) You don't want knoppix to monopolize the cd drive, because after you switch
to
the iso on the hard drive, obviously you can remove the cdrom.
2) A pc only has a CD drive, but you want to actually run the DVD iso.
3) You want to test ISOs that you're hacking. You wouldn't need to burn a DVD
everytime you wanted to test a change.
Anyway, when I boot up I use the following:
boot: knoppix bootfrom=/dev/hda1/knoppix39.iso
