I'm not convinced that FC3 is the problem though. I ran D3 on FC4 with
not problem and I don't think there are any significant differences
between FC3 and FC4 in regards to 3D video performance.
Since I did an "everything" install on it (as I use it for development
and you never know what you'll need for developing stuff), there could
be some services running that are interfering with the game. I guess
since two people have said that FC4 works fine with DOOM3, and one says
he uses FC3 and FC4 for many 3D intensive games, I'll have to look
through the stuff that's running and systematically kill processes
(services) and see what happens.

And seems I misspoke. My game box is still running FC3. Doom 3 runs just
fine on it.
