Not certain if there is a contract required. I have not had much problems with SBC. But there customer service is disorganized.

Not the product- the way they treat people. I had 2 months left on a 12 month DSL contract when I moved from San Diego. Ok, I owe them 2 months payment. Nope- they charge me a 220 disconnect fee. Perfectly calculated to be just too small for me to fight it in court.
