Is there a way to have her computer automaticly send me an email if her IP address has changed? I think it tends to *not* change very often since she is on Cox.

One alternative is to use one of the free dynamic dns services (dyndns.com comes to mind). They use a small client that runs on your system to send an update to their servers whenever your IP address changes, and you can then connect to the machine using a DNS name instead of having to know an IP address.
