That is perhaps the best description of "man" I have heard. It is excellent for review, or for those who are familiar with how it presents ideas and such. But it rather lacks on giving newcomers (to a particular command, or to "man" in general) an adequate leg up in many cases.
I love man pages, when I can remember which manpage I need. I hate info, even if I know which info set I need.
I hate people that make man pages that say to use info, because "man" is deprecated. That makes me want to do unpleasant things to RMS.
If you're not sure about what manpage you need, 'apropos' or 'whatis' (which both do the same thing.)
'man apropos' or 'man whatis' for more details. Gregory -- Gregory K. Ruiz-Ade <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> OpenPGP Key ID: EAF4844B keyserver: pgpkeys.mit.edu
