Heh. I'm the other way. I feel ... constrained without a good pre-emptive threading system. Smalltalk by default has cooperative threading, which means that there often things I want to do but can't. However, I think I'm in the minority. Threads are so scary that J2EE says that programmers shouldn't use 'em.
