I have seen machines that happily run Debian *Unstable* but crash when a "downgrade" to *Debian Stable with 2.6 kernel* is attempted. These experiences were on Dell equipment. Is this normal? Is it supposed to be a dramatic event everytime you put Debian on a new PC to see what it will accept? I guess ideally I'd like to run Unstable everywhere but that doesn't look possible. Chris -
