I wish more open source projects did as good a job at catering to
beginners as the Ruby on Rails folks.
The Rails folks *rock* at this. Locomotive is to Ruby on Rails as
Knoppix is to Linux and allows a fairly painless trial run.
Download, install, watch the video, type the commands ... Presto ...
instant web framework.
While I don't give programming tools much credit until I have used them
in anger, making it easy for a beginner is more likely to get me to that
point rather than chasing me off.
