Sounds good, not sure about the saftey issue.. It would
seem safe so long as you are on a flat sureface with
no metal objects to protrude upwards...
Humm ....
id have to dig around again
im not sure that the safty was a operator safty or a not good for the
laptop, its been 4 or 5 months from when i looked into this last, my guess
is not good for the laptop. I setup a portable POS register using a laptop
and a larger battery to run all the other stuff (printer, cashdrawer .....)
I just figured best bet was to use the larger battery, the instructions for
the laptop clearly stated not to run w/o the battery for longer periods of
time.
We've found that the battery degrades faster if the
users keep them in for months at a time with the AC
running. If we pop the batteries out and run AC, the
batteries last a lot longer on their road trips. We
use Dell 600m's...
generally we cycle the battery by using it away from power for an extended
time about 2x a month, ive yet to see a degraded battery yet, but I opted
for a gutless compaq, so I guess its possible I just have not seen it yet :D
