What is the max instances of XEN VM or what is the

I have done a number of things which peg the cpu at 100%. Just zipping a big file that is all cached in RAM will do it. No problems. The maximum number of domains is always limited by how much RAM you have in your system. If you have 2G of RAM and you want to give each xen domain 256M of RAM then you can run 8 domains.

Was considering a Athlon 64 X2 laptop, but the
downside is that all laptops have a 2 gb memory
capacity. It's a shame the industry does not increase
the memory for laptops.

As far as I am concerned a laptop is a tool for acting as a terminal to other more powerful systems. My ideal laptop has a big screen, fast network connection, low speed processor, and enough RAM to run my GUI environment (512M is usually plenty even with Gnome/KDE etc), and has a long battery life. I am typing on a laptop right now and I am running an email client, web client, ssh, etc. Nothing that really uses much RAM or cpu. All client-side applications. If I knew I would always have fast bandwidth I would not run any local applications at all other than NX or something to connect to my server.
