A member if my family works at Sony Online Entertainment (Yes, that
one... EverQuest, StarWars Galaxies, etc ) here in San Diego. The are
looking for a Unix SA and a Network Manager. He has asked me to help
them out the word out about their openings. I told him I'll bet there
are plenty of people who would love to work at SOE. Below is the
description for the Unix Admin.
"Here's a paste from our job desc (pretty standard stuff):
A UNIX Systems Administrator is responsible for configuration,
deployment, and life-cycle maintenance of non-stop server hardware
and supporting infrastructure for SOE services worldwide.
The UNIX Systems Administrator is heavily involved in high level
architecture and design. The candidate must have demonstrated
experience in the operation and upkeep of complex, scalable, highly
available networked systems.
We use mostly Linux with a few Solaris servers left in our
infrastructure. Specific skills that would be great to have include
experience managing Apache/Tomcat application servers, supporting
Java developers, and perl/shell scripting for deployment purposes."
