Any ideas, where I should look to find out it was set up so that
machine A can only
send mail to Machine B?
Simple quest for more information. Are the two machines actually
using sendmail? Or is some other MTA being used, and sendmail.conf is
just there as a historic leftover.
It might also be useful to know in more detail just what you mean by
"..send mail..".
That is, what mail clients are being used to send, and how; what exactly
do you try and what exactly is the behavior difference?
For example if using a gui client:
show config settings for "outgoing mail"
if using /usr/bin/mail, show the command lines used and
sendmail's sendmail.cf (and maybe submit.cf, too?) differences
or
postfix's main.cf (and generic, too?) differences
And also post relevant content of /var/log/maillog.
You may even want to capture tcpdump/ethereal traffic filtered on port 25.
Somebody with more expertise may need to help decipher the agent config
data, but at least this would be a start.
