Nice links.
Several years ago I had a Dreamhost account myself. They were pretty
good for me then. They had very few problems, and I liked that the
support that I got was accurate and technically proficient. Although
support at the time was only available by email, and it was pretty
slow. It's been so long since I had an account with them that
hesitate even giving my opinion of them as a customer. Any company
could have changed dramatically in the several years that it has been
since I was a customer of theirs. So much has changed with me that I
now operate a hosting provider. I have taken the positive experiences
I had with them as a customer back then, and from other hosting
companies (like ConnectNet), and tried to implement systems to
provide that same experience to my own customers. At the same time I
have tken the lessons I have had from crappy providers (like
Hosting.com) and learn from whatever it was that made them aweful.
I like to think that the support we offer is technically proficient
and timely. While most support is provided by email, we will call
customers or accept inbound calls for more complex troubleshooting.
Usually problems are resolved with the first email to support.
We are also even closer than Brea if you want to come threaten me
bodily harm (Tierrasanta and Sorrento Mesa).
We definitely specialize in Dedicated Servers, and our shared hosting
prices are not as low as Dreamhost.

I stumbled across this while hunting for Javascript tutorials:

I don't deal with them and have no recommendation. However, they do
seem to have one of the most flexible systems I have seen advertised.
In addition, they seem to have MIVA merchant capability for only $20
per month. That *alone* might be worth playing with them for a while.
Finally, they are located in Brea, CA. So, if you actually need to
go threaten bodily harm ... err ... personally persuade the staff of
the importance of your concerns, you can probably go do so.
