Actually, they could solve most of their problems by switching to
genuine thin clients.
However, this runs afoul of the politics of most corporations.
The problem is that centralized IT makes IT the most powerful department
in a corporation. By keeping computers decentralized, it keeps IT tied
down and unable to wield effective political power.
