Laser keyboard
If you are looking for something cool and futuristic
than this is it. The Laserkey projects a image of
keyboard with a laser. Operates like a conventional
keyboard
(http://falcoenterprises.co.uk/laserkey.aspx )
No it doesn't. It works like a conventional touchscreen. Which really
sucks for anything other than occasional typing. I know, my wife's AAC
(DynaVox) has a touchscreen.
So does a Blackberry, yet gazillions of stupid middle managers use them.
Yes, touchscreens suck, but it would be nice to have something like this
for a plane, a meeting, to check email on a phone, etc.

I can't imagine that trying to figure out how to keep the projector
steady enough so that plane's vibrations, along with the person sitting
in the seat in front of you, from blurring the image enough to require
an extra dose of Dramamine.
Every time the projector moves, so does the keyboard. It's hard enough
to keep just the from food on those crappy fold down trays.
Anyway, for me, typing on a touchscreen is bad enough. At least there is
a little tactile feedback. With this, zero.
As for use with a Crackberry, I figure that if I need to send so much
text so often that a (near) full sized keyboard is required, but can't a
use notebook/laptop - then I really need a life.
For the situations mentioned above, my preferences:
o While flying, I prefer to fly. Maybe read - but that's it. Work
belongs in the office.
o I've never found anything more efficient, or less less obnoxious,
for taking notes in a meeting then pen and paper.
o Checking mail on the phone is done just as well with either my
brain's resident memory, or again, pencil and paper. Besides, the
occasions which require any real note taking from a phone message
just don't justify a laser.
o Etc. Can't think of any offhand. Probably due to my lack of imagina-
tion and maturing geekness.
What's really amazing though is how many words I just used to explain
how dumb an idea something I couldn't care less about is! :)
