I had been running SuSE 9.2 when the first signs of trouble arose. One

on the button then allowed
KDE to finish loading and run apparently normally. So one day about 3
weeks ago, I decided
to reinstall 9.2. Since that time, my machine has not been right.
. . . many problems listed here . . .
My processor is an Athlon XP 2500+ two years old and my monitor is a
Viewsonic E90 capable of much

All of the installation media had been used successfully prior to my
recent troubles. It has been a very
puzzling three weeks.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Failing memory?
memtest86+ is available as a boot-time option on many recent Linux
distribution discs.

Memory was my first concern, so I purchased a stick of Kingston 512 MB
PC3200 DDR .
Nothing different. Added old memory, 256 MB Crucial PC2700 DDR, to
Mboard, same result.
Old Mboard was a Soyo, the most trouble-free I have ever had. New
Mboard, ECS. No
change. Installations still fail. New video card-- failure.
However, since your note, I tried memtest, and three passes in two hours
found no faults.
Still puzzled.
